I am not sure that I know what an ideal woman is or even what makes woman just that. If the ideal female is passive, stay-at-home, barefoot and pregrant then why is Jo a heroine that we relate to? Also, I feel like we are always talking about how males construct what is the &#8216;ideal&#8217; female, but what about women. what impact do they have? I was thinking that most characters that we say are &#8216;strong women&#8217; have a lot of masculine characteristics, like Lizzy in Pride and Prejudice or Jo in Little Women. Most people dislike weak, passive Beth and most people don&#8217;t remember the names of the quiet Bennet sisters.
