After watching the first half of the movie, I noticed several differences from the novel.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 For instance, in the movie Ned’s name is Ed, and Shad’s name is Nick.\u00c2\u00a0 Opal is Paul’s sister instead of his daughter.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 Also. right off the bat, the order of events were not the same.\u00c2\u00a0 At the beginning of the movie, Shad (Nick) meets with Paul after his building have been closed.\u00c2\u00a0 Also, Paul goes to Ned’s \u00c2\u00a0(Ed) room early on in the movie, and this doesn’t happen until the end of the book.\u00c2\u00a0 Paul has brown hair in the film, which I thought was strange since Hammett makes it a point to keep repeating that he has blonde hair.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n
It is funny to see how Janet comes on so strongly to Ned.\u00c2\u00a0 She bats her eyes,\u00c2\u00a0and flirts with him every chance she gets.\u00c2\u00a0 It is very obvious that she is completely taken by him.\u00c2\u00a0 I don’t feel that the book really shows this\u00c2\u00a0until the hospital visit\u00c2\u00a0.\u00c2\u00a0 In the movie,\u00c2\u00a0Ned seems equally attracted to her right from the start.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
