I just want to comment on Shayden’s post <\/a>on Midge and Judy.\u00c2\u00a0 She says that Judy lied to Johnny and through her deception is responsible for his downfall.\u00c2\u00a0 I feel very strongly opposed\u00c2\u00a0to this idea.\u00c2\u00a0 I don’t think that you can “get” someone to fall in love with you.\u00c2\u00a0 They have to do that all by themselves.\u00c2\u00a0 AND they have to take responsibility for any consequences that ensue.\u00c2\u00a0 Shayden says that Johnny “wants eroticism and excitement, something unusual.”\u00c2\u00a0 Yes.<\/em>\u00c2\u00a0 He wants <\/em>this.\u00c2\u00a0 He wants to fall in love with Judy\/Madeline.\u00c2\u00a0 Midge is therefore not <\/em>the ideal girl, because she isn’t what Johnny really wants.<\/p>\n

Okay, what Johnny wants happens to be a unhealthy and dangerous obsession.\u00c2\u00a0 But he makes that decision for himself.\u00c2\u00a0 And frankly, I’d rather have an unhealthy and dangerous obsession than settle for a Midge.\u00c2\u00a0 And probably so would you.\u00c2\u00a0 It doesn’t matter how good anyone looks on paper.\u00c2\u00a0 Anyone–bloggers–have you made pro\/con lists about people you had crushes on\u00c2\u00a0back when you were in middle school?\u00c2\u00a0 Don’t lie.\u00c2\u00a0 The “nice guy\/girl” who was such a “good friend” was never the one you fell for.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0Nothing changes<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Johnny is seduced by Judy because he wants<\/em> to be seduced.\u00c2\u00a0 In order to fall you have to be willing to let yourself go.\u00c2\u00a0 Only you can make that decision.\u00c2\u00a0 No one is capable of “seducing” someone else unless that person is willing to be seduced.\u00c2\u00a0 If Johnny–or anyone–is really that weak of a person then he clearly deserves his fate.\u00c2\u00a0 Judy and Johnny are both equally responsible for their respective downfalls.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
