{"id":15,"date":"2007-02-20T12:56:09","date_gmt":"2007-02-20T19:56:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.elsweb.org\/robyn\/2007\/02\/20\/altogether-too-much-screeching\/"},"modified":"2007-02-20T12:57:55","modified_gmt":"2007-02-20T19:57:55","slug":"altogether-too-much-screeching","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.elsweb.org\/robyn\/2007\/02\/20\/altogether-too-much-screeching\/","title":{"rendered":"Altogether too much screeching"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I am willing to bet that\u00c2\u00a0many\u00c2\u00a0men\u00c2\u00a0decided to become misogynists after watching\u00c2\u00a0<em>Little Women.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0<\/em>Was it necessary for them to scream every line of dialogue?\u00c2\u00a0 All I can say is, those girls are unbearably loud and obnoxious.\u00c2\u00a0 Except for Beth of course, but she&#8217;s just unbearably dull.\u00c2\u00a0 Though better to be dull and quiet than rambunctious and piercing.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from the fact that the March girls conversed in a tone similar to dog whistles, (but unfortunately not quite high-pitched enough&#8211; being that we could still hear them)\u00c2\u00a0 I thought the movie had surprisingly good acting and accurately conveyed the struggles and personalities of the girls as well as relaying in the shortened time period\u00c2\u00a0of a movie a very good representation of the important interactions of the members of the\u00c2\u00a0March family and their respective friends.\u00c2\u00a0 Laurie was a bit, um, painfully awkward, but the girls were just brilliant.\u00c2\u00a0 Their characters seemed very &#8220;fresh,&#8221; and unrefined, which is how they came across to me while reading the novel.\u00c2\u00a0 The great disadvantage of the film as far as I&#8217;m concerned is it&#8217;s audio element&#8211;the novel being so peacefully silent.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am willing to bet that\u00c2\u00a0many\u00c2\u00a0men\u00c2\u00a0decided to become misogynists after watching\u00c2\u00a0Little Women.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0Was it necessary for them to scream every line of dialogue?\u00c2\u00a0 All I can say is, those girls are unbearably loud and obnoxious.\u00c2\u00a0 Except for Beth of course, but she&#8217;s just unbearably dull.\u00c2\u00a0 Though better to be dull and quiet than rambunctious and piercing.
