I finally had a chance to watch the movie and was pleasantly surprised.\u00c2\u00a0 After hearing everyone talk I thought I wouldn’t like because it sounded so deep.\u00c2\u00a0 Well, it was deep on many levels.\u00c2\u00a0 The part about Vertigo that I find challenging is the notion that love can make you dizzy, off-balance, nauseous, crazy and murderous.\u00c2\u00a0 Scottie tormented himself in the name of love.\u00c2\u00a0 He went to Hell and back again in order to have Madeline.\u00c2\u00a0 He suffered a mental breakdown, obsession and depression in the name of love.\u00c2\u00a0 He committed himself so completely that I can truthfully say that he was in love with love.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 No, actually he was in obsessed with love.\u00c2\u00a0 Obsessions are not healthy and neither was Scottie.\u00c2\u00a0 There did seem to be the recognition that he was out of touch with reality.\u00c2\u00a0 However, even this realization did not give him the ability to break his obsession.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00c2\u00a0Like Scottie, Eben was powerless to regin\u00c2\u00a0in his feelings.\u00c2\u00a0 I agree with\u00c2\u00a0Robyn that Eben was in love with the idea of\u00c2\u00a0being inspired.\u00c2\u00a0 It doesn’t even matter any more whether or not Jennie was real because he too was in\u00c2\u00a0love with an idea.\u00c2\u00a0 He was in love with the idea of a woman transcending time to be with him.\u00c2\u00a0 Scottie was also in love with this notion except that Scottie was in love with a woman that did not exist.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n
Scottie and Eben are actors playing imaginary people.\u00c2\u00a0 But, how easily could any of us fall into that trap?\u00c2\u00a0 That notion\u00c2\u00a0is terrifying.\u00c2\u00a0 With a little imagination any of us could become Eben or Scottie falling into the trap of loving someone or\u00c2\u00a0something that doesn’t exist.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
