I saw “Zodiac” last night.\u00c2\u00a0 Now, I want to complain about it.\u00c2\u00a0 First of all, it’s a 2 1\/2 hour movie.\u00c2\u00a0 That’s a long time for someone with undiagnosed ADD to sit still.\u00c2\u00a0 Things started hurting and cramping.\u00c2\u00a0 At times I found my leg shaking uncontrollably.\u00c2\u00a0 That disturbed my date greatly who politely asked if\u00c2\u00a0everything was okay.\u00c2\u00a0 That’s okay because she bought me a large Diet Coke (R in the\u00c2\u00a0circle thing).\u00c2\u00a0 The second distraction centered around the actual physical sound of the movie being played.\u00c2\u00a0 I’m sure there is a name for it but I just call it a monumental aural distraction.\u00c2\u00a0 I tried to focus my attention on the movie but kept coming back to the sound of\u00c2\u00a0the projector whirring.\u00c2\u00a0 In this day and age can’t the projector be made to operate silently?\u00c2\u00a0 So by now you can guess that I was sitting at the back of the theater.\u00c2\u00a0 Well, the back of\u00c2\u00a0theater is a haven for all kinds of activities.\u00c2\u00a0 First of all there was a couple sitting in front of us who\u00c2\u00a0really needed to get a room.\u00c2\u00a0 They kept snuggling and exchanging sloppy, slurpy, smacking kisses.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0They prefaced every interface (pun intended) with a long, lingering “I love you look.”\u00c2\u00a0 These people were not young either.\u00c2\u00a0 They had to be on at least their 10th serious relationship.\u00c2\u00a0 The guy had an enormous head and he didn’t even have the decency to slouch down in his seat.\u00c2\u00a0 I have a\u00c2\u00a0big head and I always observe this unwritten rule of etiquette.\u00c2\u00a0 It’s just what you’re supposed to do.\u00c2\u00a0 Behind us was a young, not-even-college-age-yet couple.\u00c2\u00a0 They were involved in sharing and transmitting\u00c2\u00a0numerous socially prevelant viral concoctions.\u00c2\u00a0 The girl kept jamming her\u00c2\u00a0feet and knees into the back of my seat.\u00c2\u00a0 I let it happen twice.\u00c2\u00a0 Had\u00c2\u00a0she done it a third time I was going to say something.\u00c2\u00a0 However, my movie companion has\u00c2\u00a0a lot more manners and tact than I do and exercised her influence over me.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0I felt sorry for the gentleman in the very last row.\u00c2\u00a0 He had a disability and was forced to sit\u00c2\u00a0in the back.\u00c2\u00a0 He must have been in Hell.\u00c2\u00a0 Finally, I have two more things to say.\u00c2\u00a0 The girl three seats down from me\u00c2\u00a0kept checking her cell phone every ten\u00c2\u00a0minutes and laughing at something.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0She at least had the common decency to turn it off but why was she at the movies if she had to be so attentive to it?\u00c2\u00a0 This blows my mind.\u00c2\u00a0 The attendant walking down the aisle with a red light\u00c2\u00a0saber thingey didn’t bother me to much.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0The most disturbing aspect of the whole movie-going\u00c2\u00a0experience was the scene where the Zodiac gave\u00c2\u00a0a ride to a young mother and her infant.\u00c2\u00a0 He told her “Before I kill you, I’m going to throw your baby out the window.”\u00c2\u00a0 I was mortified, repulsed, scared, empathetic and sick to my stomach all at the same time.\u00c2\u00a0 I have a four year old boy and felt an acute sense of panic\u00c2\u00a0during the entire\u00c2\u00a0tense scene.\u00c2\u00a0 It was awful.\u00c2\u00a0 I alternated between closing my eyes and sneaking a peek at the screen.\u00c2\u00a0 I kept waiting for the music to signal that the horrible deed had taken place.\u00c2\u00a0 Somehow I got through the scene without tossing the six mini-cheeseburgers and\u00c2\u00a0huge plate of fries I had ingested an hour earlier.\u00c2\u00a0 The mother and the baby lived.\u00c2\u00a0 For that I was most relieved.\u00c2\u00a0 I left the theater, drove\u00c2\u00a0home, went into my son’s room where he was sleeping and kissed his sweet, little face.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
