{"id":27,"date":"2007-02-28T15:10:20","date_gmt":"2007-02-28T20:10:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.elsweb.org\/carmenc\/2007\/02\/28\/narratives-and-voice-overs-are-a-good-thing\/"},"modified":"2007-02-28T15:10:20","modified_gmt":"2007-02-28T20:10:20","slug":"narratives-and-voice-overs-are-a-good-thing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.elsweb.org\/carmenc\/2007\/02\/28\/narratives-and-voice-overs-are-a-good-thing\/","title":{"rendered":"Narratives and Voice Overs Are a Good Thing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Before I jump into my topic, I just want to say that Marycarolyn&#8217;s group did an excellent job with their presentation.\u00c2\u00a0 I learned a lot I think because they were fellow students giving me the information.\u00c2\u00a0 This format was conducive to learning.\u00c2\u00a0 Great job everyone!<\/p>\n<p>As for voice overs and narratives, they&#8217;re a great way of delivering a lot of information quickly and effectively.\u00c2\u00a0 Otherwise, this information may be overlooked by the audience completely, or misinerpreted at the very least.\u00c2\u00a0 I see them as a way\u00c2\u00a0of ensuring fidelity as well as communicating the intention of the adaptor in making the film.\u00c2\u00a0 For the novice film-goer they provide a means to connect to the film.\u00c2\u00a0 More sophisticated viewers need to learn patience.\u00c2\u00a0 Dr. Campbell said that narratives and voice overs as a\u00c2\u00a0cinematic device are very much debated.\u00c2\u00a0 This surprised me because I strongly connected with the concept.\u00c2\u00a0 I\u00c2\u00a0imagine that the other side of the issue lies in the film purists who see this as &#8220;cheapening&#8221; the film; maybe even cheating.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 Purists should not hold this view because narratives and voice overs maintain the fluidity of the film.\u00c2\u00a0 It is more important to\u00c2\u00a0get at what\u00c2\u00a0the adaptor is trying to convery, rather than worrying about how it is said.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Before I jump into my topic, I just want to say that Marycarolyn&#8217;s group did an excellent job with their presentation.\u00c2\u00a0 I learned a lot I think because they were fellow students giving me the information.\u00c2\u00a0 This format was conducive to learning.\u00c2\u00a0 Great job everyone!
